- To celebrate the Garden Club of America’s 2013 Centennial, all 199 GCA clubs across the country are involved in a project that combines the goals of horticulture and conservation. The project highlights the fact that studying and understanding horticulture is one of the many ways that we can come to understand and advocate for conservation.
The Garden Club of Houston has issued its Great Small Trees for Houston brochure for use by public entities, developers, and citizens. We are creating demonstration plantings using these trees along Houston’s signature waterway, Buffalo Bayou, beginning in 2009 and extending until 2013. For more information, click here.
- Important New Project! A joint effort with the City of Houston and Harris County to prevent leaf and trash dumping in our storm drain system. Decals are available to be glued to drains and are available by calling 713 290 3000. Help us attach these decals and keep our water clean! It is a FEDERAL offense to dump ANYTHING in storm drains. It carries a severe fine and also includes the total cost of the clean-up. If you see anyone dumping things into a storm drain call: 713-525-2728.
