Our preorder offers are a “grab-bag” variety of cultivars that are in the blue family. They are all beautiful and hardy for the Houston-area. Please visit the Bulb and Plant Mart if you are looking for a specific characteristic. Well-suited to Houston’s climate, usually disease-free, blooming March/April, needs half-day sun, is dormant in August. Plant immediately, placing rhizomes just below surface in a bed level with a lawn, or in a low spot. Fertilize once or twice a year, flood bed in January before blooming. Water sufficiently in summer to maintain active growth. Mulch in summer to prevent sunburn. If properly watered and fed, they may be left alone for years.
